Dataset description

The data set contains official statistics on the division of land units registered in the State Real Estate Cadastre Information System into land use types. * __ATVK__ — Code of Classification of Administrative Territories and Territorial Units. * __Administrative territory__ — the unit of territorial division of Latvia, in which the local government implements administration within the scope of its competence. * __Total area __ — total area of land units. * __ Types of land use __ — land use division in accordance with Cabinet Regulation No 562 of 21 August 2007 on the procedures for classifying types of land use and the criteria for their determination. * __Agricultural land __: * Arable land — land regularly cultivated, or land formerly cultivated, used for sowing of agricultural crops due to its natural characteristics, as well as land for forest planting material, fruit tree and berry nurseries; * Arable land — land regularly cultivated, or land formerly cultivated, used for sowing of agricultural crops due to its natural characteristics, as well as land for forest planting material, fruit tree and berry nurseries; * Orchard — land on which fruit trees, berry bushes and perennial berry trees are grown for fruit production; * Meadow — land which, by its natural characteristics, can be used for grass mowing and long-term cultivation (sown) or naturally formed (self-seeded) grass crop; * Pasture — land used for long-term grazing and cultivation (sown) or natural (self-seeded) herbaceous forage; * Forest — land dominated by trees at all stages of development, whose height at a given location can reach at least seven metres and whose current or potential canopy projection is at least 20 per cent of the area occupied by the forest stand; * Shrubland — land dominated by trees (coffins, bushes, honeysuckles, partridges, saddles, currants, hazels, chalks, rowan trees, groves), which form several stems up to six metres high; * Marsh — land with wet, poorly aerated peat soils, where the tree height in a given place cannot reach more than seven meters and the low-edge species are dominated by different species of grief and sphagnum. * __Land of water objects __: * Land under water — land occupied by rivers (including streams), lakes, ponds, water drains and other bodies of water, as well as coastal waters; * Land under fish ponds — land occupied by artificially installed water bodies for fish farming; * __Land under buildings and yards __ — land occupied by buildings, structures and yards, as well as land necessary for the maintenance of buildings and structures. * __Land under the roads __ — land occupied by streets, roads and railway or railway tracks, as well as their compartment lanes. * __Other land __ — land occupied by sands, cemeteries, parks, lauces, stalks, ravines, screeds, slopes, if they are not considered to be forest or scrub, seed plantations and overflowing fields, as well as land used for mining. The areas are rounded to whole hectares.
