Dataset description

Complaints about content or advertising may be made by another regulator, an individual or the Authority itself (in the case of a self-referral). After verifying the formal requirements of a complaint addressed to the Authority, the Board of Directors shall request the Director to investigate the case. If ALIA finds under the procedure that the service has breached the provisions applicable to it in respect of content or advertising in a “manifest, serious and serious” manner (Article 35e of the amended Electronic Media Act), it may impose a disciplinary penalty. There are three levels of sanctions: the reprimand, the reprimand with compulsory reading of a press release on the air or a fine of the order of 250 to EUR 25 000. An appeal to the Administrative Court is open against the decisions of the Authority. The AMF also monitors films released in theatres, their rankings and the mandatory publication of this ranking. If the operators first act as self-regulators by classifying films according to the age categories laid down, ALIA intervenes ad hoc to monitor compliance and mandatory publication of the ranking. By reasoned decision, ALIA may reclassify a film to a higher category. Finally, the Autorité is in charge of the allocation of frequencies for local and regional radios (transmission networks).
