Dataset description

Audiovisual document on the ceremonies of the Centennial of Independence in Clervaux in 1939. The personalities, including Mr Emile REUTER, arrive in Clervaux for the Centennial ceremonies. Children in costumes are massaged along the course. Finally arrives the Grand Duchess CHARLOTTE accompanied by Princes FELIX and JEAN, in great uniform, and his other children. She was greeted by the Bourgmestre of the locality which presented him with the chevinal college. The population showed its enthusiasm with vivas. The little ones make a compliment to the Sovereign and two peasants in traditional costume give her a ham. Then parade in costume the delegations of the localities of the canton (Boevange, Hachiville, Hupperdange, Munshausen, Weiswampach, Asselborn, Clervaux), followed by tanks. The Centennial tank closes the procession. Le Bourgmestre gave an address and opened an ovation. After listening to the hymn “Ons Heemecht” the Grand Duchess signs the golden book. Le Bourgmestre accompanies the Grand Ducal family to his car. The participants of this event meet at the Auberge de Jeunesse for a wine of honour.
