Dataset description

Pilot project for an altimeter survey based on airborne laser scanning technology on a surface of 10 km x 10 km around the cities of Ettelbrück and Diekirch. On average, the points were measured with a density of 15 points per square metre and a horizontal accuracy of ± 3 cm and vertical accuracy of ± 6 cm. A [web viewer](http://lidar.geoportail.lu/) based on potree technology ([potree.org](http://potree.org/)) is set up, allowing online viewing of the point cloud. ### Points Cloud — Data Structure The raw data are structured as tiles with a spatial extent of 500 m x 500 m and contain on average between 5 and 7 million measured points. To simplify data processing, raw tiles were grouped into compressed files (zip) with up to 9 raw tiles (representing a spatial extent of 1 500 m x 1 500 m). The assembly board — zip files allows an overview of the grouped tiles and the assembly board — dot clouds contains the link between raw tiles and the compressed file. (See description of related resources) ### Points cloud — point classification The measured points were classified into 7 categories: — Soils, — Vegetation, Water, — Buildings, — Bridges, — Technical installations (distribution network and electricity generation) — Other (unclassified items) ### Digital Field Model (MNT) and Surface (MNS) This dataset contains the MNT and MNS derived from LiDAR data. Detailed description -> see desciption of the corresponding resources. ### Technical orthophoto The technical aerial image (space resolution 10 cm) is available as a WMS service.
