Dataset description

**“Communes 2030”, a reference guide that allows a structured communal or territorial inventory of sustainable development initiatives in the prism of the Sustainable Development Goals adopted in the framework of the 2030 Agenda.** Municipalities are key players in political action. By virtue of their mission as local governments and their proximity to citizens, municipalities and their ecosystem are key players in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at national level. They implement concrete actions closer to citizens than those of the central state. Smaller in size, they can in theory decide faster. **Why conduct an evaluation of initiatives?** An inventory is a methodical review of what exists. The objective is to identify and describe qualitatively and quantitatively existing initiatives within the jurisdiction of the municipality or territory. Secondly, it is a question of defining the impact of initiatives, i.e. what they seek to change. Finally, it will be necessary to describe the evolution of initiatives over time. **The added value of an inventory report** The objective of an inventory is to produce information. It must therefore lead to an inventory report informing policy makers and citizens about the contribution of their municipality or territory to action for sustainable development as defined in the 2030 Agenda.
