Dataset description

Road traffic accidents according to the month are calculated by STATEC. This table shows for 2015 the total number of road traffic injuries per month, divided into fatal accidents, accidents with serious injuries and minor injuries. The following definitions were used: A road traffic accident is any sudden and unforeseen event that occurred to one or more users on a lane normally open to traffic and which caused bodily injury on condition that a moving vehicle was involved in the event. For the statistics on bodily accidents are taken into account only road traffic accidents reported to the Grand Ducale Police. The data are drawn from the minutes of law enforcement officers. The victims killed include those killed on the spot or who died as a result of the accident within 30 days. Victims who suffer from any fracture, concussion, internal lesions, cuts and tears, bruises or other injuries resulting in hospitalisation with a duration equal to or longer than one day shall be considered to be seriously injured. Persons who have undergone scratches, strokes or any other benign lesion requiring only outpatient treatment are considered to be slightly injured. To define the severity of the accident, the most severe injury is taken into account.
