Dataset description

This table provides information on the acquisitions by heirs from the estates of the deceased in a given year for which succession has been declared. The series has been discontinued as a result of a new set of figures on inheritances and acquisitions. Acquirers (heirs), (average) amounts of acquisition (inheritance) and tax due are distinguished by category of acquirer and the amount of the acquisition. Data available from 2005 to 2010. Status of the figures The figures for the years 2005-2009 are final. The figures for 2010 are provisional. As this table has been discontinued, the data will no longer be definitive. Changes as of April 2016: None, this table has been discontinued. As of 2010, the levying of the inheritance tax and the inheritance tax declaration have been amended. As a result, the data of the estates and acquisitions from 2010 onwards are not entirely comparable to the 2005-2009 data. For the table of acquirers, the classification by category of acquirer has changed: “brothers and sisters” have been merged with “non- or distant relatives”. The series in the new set-up is expected in mid-2017. This new series contains figures for the period 2005 to 2014.
