Dataset description

This stock contains surface waters that are protected because of the drinking water supply. In Gelderland, surface water is used for the public drinking water supply. This is done by infiltration of surface water. This also compensates for the adverse effects on wet nature resulting from the abstraction of groundwater for the public drinking water supply. The function “surface water for drinking water” applies to those regional waters from which surface water is used (indirectly) for drinking water production: the waters in the catchment area of a small part of the first building of the Apeldoorns Canal (for the Schalterberg pumping station) and the waterways in the catchment area of the Grift to Epe (for the Epe pumping station). This file was established by Provincial States on 1 March 2017.
