The Archaeological Landscapes map distinguishes 26 landscapes and landscape zones within them. These zones are not only based on landscape characteristics, but also on expected archaeological differences. They can therefore help to set archaeological expectations. In addition, the map helps to determine the correct methods and techniques with which these expected archaeological remains can best be traced.
