This table provides data on business dynamics and survival of SMEs and their employment effects. The data can be broken down into a number of sectors and branches according to the Standard Industry Classification 2008 (SIC 2008).
This table makes it possible to relate the dynamics (setting up and winding up of holdings) to the total business population. This is called the Churn rate. It is also possible to monitor the survival of newly created firms in a given year between 3 and 5 years.
The data are available from 2011. The data for the different variables are available at different times. For example, the 5-year survival of the farms born in 2015 is not yet available.
Status of the figures:
Data for reporting years 2011-2014 are final, while the remaining years are provisional.
Amendments as of 3 November 2021:
The data for the period 2011-2014 have become definitive.
Data on births of 2020, 3- and 5-year surviving holdings of 2016 resp 2014, and data on closed farms from 2019 have been added.
The 2018 data on closed companies have been updated on the basis of the information provided.
When will there be new figures?
The results will be available approximately 15 months after the end of the reporting year.
