Dataset description

CBS publishes data on construction production in value amounts. However, these amounts of value do not provide insight into the volume development of construction production because they are partly influenced by price changes. That influence can be eliminated with the help of the Production Index buildings, which is derived from the series "New build houses; output index 2000=100’. From the 2nd quarter of 2009, the linked figures from the 2005=100 series are used for this purpose. The production index of buildings reflects the ratio between production construction in current (current) prices and production in 2000 prices (constant prices). In the conversion of the calculation of the 1995 price indices to 2000 levels, the methodology is unchanged. Changes in the evolution of the price indices of production, 2000 price levels compared to the previously published index series at the 1995 price level are caused by the application of the new series of “New Homes”; output index 2000=100’. The following production indices can be selected in the table: — Total new construction and other construction, — Total new construction, — New build homes — New-build market sector, — New-build budget sector, — Total other construction, — Other construction houses, — Other construction market sector, — Other construction budget sector. Data available from Q1 2000 to Q4 2016 Frequency: discontinued Status of the figures The data for 2016 is provisional. As this table has been discontinued, the data will no longer be definitive. Changes as of 29 January 2018 None, this table has been discontinued. When are new figures coming? This table is followed by Building Production, Price Index 2015 = 100. See paragraph 3. Link advice If you want to place the results of the Price indices of building production in a time series, you can link the series to the 1995 price level and to 2000 price level. From the 2nd quarter in the 2000 series, the percentage trend compared to the 1st quarter of 2005 has to be calculated, since the price index for the 1st quarter of 2005 was the last published figure in the 1995 series. This development should then be “set on” the 1st quarter 2005 index of the series at price level 1995. The price index for the 2 quarter 2005 of the coupled series is determined by determining the evolution between Q1 2005 and Q2 2005 according to the 2000 price level series and multiplying it by the 1st quarter 2005 index according to the 1995 series. In the example: (119/120) x 148 = 147 (rounded). For the 3 rd quarter of 2005, the index is calculated on the same line, with each change to be calculated in relation to the 1st quarter of 2005 due to rounding problems.
