Dataset description

The Incoming Tourism Statistics (SIT) provides insight into the activities, motives, duration of stay and expenses of foreign tourists in the Netherlands. The previous investigation was conducted in 1999. For the current study, the observation took place in the period from week 12-205 to week 11-2006. The research focuses on foreign tourists with at least one overnight stay in a Dutch accommodation. As a result, day tourists and tourists staying with family or friends fall outside the target population. Persons staying longer than 60 nights in one accommodation are also not included in the target population. In the SIT, not only holidaymakers are counted among the tourists but also business travellers. The target population therefore consists of all foreign guests in Dutch accommodation accommodation. The SIT is based on a partnership between the Netherlands Bureau for Tourism and Congresses (NBTC) as client, Blauw Research (survey ring) and CBS (advisory questionnaire, sample, editing and raising). Data available from 2005 to 2006 Status of the figures The figures in the table are final. Changes as of 31 January 2018: None, this table has been discontinued. When will the new figures come? No longer applicable.
