Dataset description

The table contains data on the number of residential areas on 1 January. Care housing spaces are residences where institutional households are living in need of care. These include care and nursing homes, mental health institutions, forensic centres and institutions for intellectual, physical and sensory disabled. Based on various sources and planning rules, it has been determined which residence objects that are registered in the Basic Registrations Addresses and Buildings (BAG) are used as a care home in the Netherlands. The data is broken down by type of care room. The type of care living space is determined on the basis of characteristics of the building in which the care living space is located. For example, the size of the building is broken down according to the number of residents (large, medium or small). The size of the building can also be broken down by type of property; building consists mainly or partly of care living spaces. In addition, it is also determined which care rooms belong to the housing stock or the non-residential stock. This makes it clear which part of the housing and non-residential stock is being used by institutional households receiving care. It is possible that (all) residents are registered at the address of a non-resident in the building. Furthermore, it is broken down by parts of the country, provinces and COROP areas. The table was commissioned by the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK). Data available from: 2018 Status of the figures: The figures in this table are provisional. Changes from 31-10-2022: The preliminary figures for 2022 have been added. When are new figures coming? New figures are added each autumn. In the autumn of 2023, the (provisional) figures of 2023 will be published.
