Dataset description

For the Caribbean Netherlands, this table describes the number of students participating in the government-funded secondary vocational education (mbo) by region (Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba), level, sector and domain. The courses within the Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) introduced from 2019/'20 on Sint Eustatius and Saba have not been taken into account in this table. Due to the introduction of the CVQ system, from the academic year 2021/'22 there are no students at the MBO on Sint Eustatius and Saba. The islands of Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba are part of the Netherlands as a special municipality from 10 October 2010. Data available: from the academic year 2009/'10. Status of the figures: The figures for the academic years 2009/‘10 to 2020/’21 are final, the figures for the academic year 2021/‘22 are further provisional and the figures for the 2022/’23 study year are provisional. Changes as of 15 March 2023: The further preliminary figures for the 2020/'21 academic year have become final, the provisional figures for the 2021/'22 academic year have become more provisional and the provisional figures for the 2022/'23 academic year have been added. MBO participants are now called MBO students. This is adjusted in this table. In 2018, it was decided to call MBO participants MBO students from now on. This was introduced during the academic year 2020/'21 and incorporated into the Educational Education Act. Other bodies presenting figures about the MBO have already switched to MBO students last year. When will the new figures come? In the first quarter of 2024, further preliminary figures for the 2022/‘23 academic year and the preliminary figures for the 2023/’24 academic year will be available. In addition, the further preliminary figures for the school year 2021/'22 will then become final.
