Dataset description

In the Netherlands, the pension system consists of three components, the so-called pillars. In these pillars, a pension provision can be built up for the old age and includes provisions in the pillars, which can provide a benefit for the partner in the event of the death of a person. With regard to the latter benefits, the establishment of the pillars is as follows: — The first pillar includes the General Survivors Act (Anw). — In the second pillar, a partner pension can be insured or accrued within work-related, collective pension schemes. — Finally, in the third pillar individual products can be taken out from insurers. Think of a death risk insurance or a survivor interest rate. This table provides an overview of the status of entitlements to future partner pension and the total gross annual amount of insured partner pension at the end of the reporting year, within the second pillar. Data available from: 2017. Status of the figures: The 2017 and 2018 figures are final. The figures for 2019 are further provisional. The figures for 2020 are provisional. Amendments as at 31 December 2021 — The provisional figures for 2020 have been added; — The 2019 figures have been corrected (see explanation below); — The 2018 figures have been finalised. The 2019 figures were corrected as at 31 December 2021. As a result of this correction, the numbers, and the corresponding amounts, have increased. The correction is an improvement in the figures. A process improvement/quality improvement and addition of data from two previously missing pension providers have led to this correction. When are new figures coming? The provisional figures for the year 2021 will be published in the fourth quarter of 2022.
