Clients of Victim Assistance; type, crime, migration background and age

This table gives an overview of persons who have been registered with Victim Assistance Netherlands and who are known in the social statistical files of CBS. The figures are broken down by age, gender, origin, type of client and type of crime. A person may end up at Slachtofferhulp Nederland (SHN) for several offences or accidents one or more times in a reporting year. This person is then counted in the table once, in the first crime. The table also contains relative figures. That is to say, the number of persons who have been in contact with Victim Aid is represented per 100 000 inhabitants of the population concerned. In addition to victims of crimes and accidents, witnesses, parties involved, causers or relatives can also be a client of Victim Assistance Netherlands. Due to a change in the allocation of type of client by Victim Assistance Netherlands, a trend break has arisen between 2016 and 2017. In addition, a phase-out of receiving the daily reports in case of traffic accidents took place that Victim Assistance Netherlands received. This has mainly resulted in substantially fewer clients with the victim typing being ‘involved’ in 2018. Data available from: 2009. Status of the figures: The figures until 2019 are final. The figures for 2020 have the status for now. Amendments as of 17 December 2021: The preliminary figures for 2020 have been added. The publication strategy has been adjusted. When updating the table, the new year is always first published as provisional. In the next update, the figures become final. When are new figures coming? The figures for the previous year will be published in November 2022.
