Coastal defence (Environmental Vision 2016-2020)

This stock contains the coastal defence areas as established in the Environment Vision province of Groningen 2016-2020. The Wadden Sea World Heritage is located behind the dike: the potential that it has undeniably can be exploited better. This requires a different way of looking: see the dike not as a dividing line, but as part of a wide transition zone between land and mud, as a driver for the experience and (on a modest scale) marketing of the world heritage. There are good opportunities to link nature, agriculture and recreation to dike reinforcement projects. For this purpose, we have laid down a flood protection zone spatially in the Environment Regulation.
