Dataset description

This table contains information on the legal form, size class, balance sheet and parent company of the credit institutions. Up to and including reporting year 2007, these data relate to the entire holding of the kredtiet institutions. From the reporting year 2008, the data relate only to the credit institutions’ money-creating business. CBS compiles this table annually; the data will also be provided to Eurostat. The supply obligation to Eurostat is laid down in the Structural Business Statistics Regulation (SBS Regulation). The credit institutions are divided by legal form (corporations, cooperative banks, branches). The total number of credit institutions is also divided according to the size or size of the balance sheet total. Data on the parent company fall into two categories: 1.The number of credit institutions established in the Netherlands and the balance sheet total of these companies shall be divided according to the establishment of the parent company domestically or abroad. 2.The branches of credit institutions established in the Netherlands whose parent company is established in the European Union (EU). These branches are distributed by country of establishment of the parent company. Data available from 1997 to 2015. Status of the figures: The figures in this table are final; occasionally, the figures can be adjusted in case of corrections in the source information. Changes as of 10 July 2018: None, this table has been discontinued. When are new figures coming? No longer applicable. In the context of the strategic cooperation between CBS and DNB, a new division of tasks has been agreed. Credit institutions are explicitly covered by the scope of DNB. The publication of tables by CBS with regard to Credit Institutions is therefore discontinued. More information can be found via the link in paragraph 3.
