Dataset description

This table contains key figures on canton cases, court criminal cases and orders of the Central Judicial Collection Bureau under the Mulder Act. Both canton and court criminal cases are divided into registered criminal cases, decisions of the Public Prosecutor’s Office (OM) and adjudications by the court. The decisions by the public prosecutor and the judge are further broken down by some types of decisions. When adjudicating by the judge of court criminal cases, the joints at the hearing were not included in the numbers. The Decrees Wet Mulder concern the influx of decisions and are divided according to the infringement that led to the decision. The courts are gradually moving to a new registration system. This transition means that the files are temporarily not complete. For this reason, figures on statements of guilt and acquittals in canton criminal cases between 2010 and 2013 have not yet been included in this publication. Figures on canton cases in 2014 and 2015 are not available at all. Data available: since 1994 Status of the figures: The figures for the most recent reporting year are provisional, the other figures are final. Changes as of 8 January 2020: None, this table has been discontinued. Changes as of 11 September 2017: The figures on the decisions of the Public Prosecutor’s Office have been retroactively adjusted from 2008 onwards by improvements in the interface of the Integrated Criminal Procedure System (GPS). This mainly concerns the criminal orders, where an underestimation took place. The figures on the settlements by the court of first instance have been retroactively adjusted from 2001 due to an error in the data transmission to CBS. This led to an underestimation of the number of cases by the judge. It was mainly about super-fast lawsuits that were missing. The preliminary figures for 2016 have been added. Due to the loss of funding, new data will no longer be available for this statistics from 1 January 2018. For more information see the link in paragraph 3. When are new figures coming? Due to the loss of funding, new data will no longer be available for this statistics from 1 January 2018. For more information see the link in paragraph 3.
