Dataset description

Floods used to occur regularly. That is why the first inhabitants from the Iron Age until the Middle Ages (2500 to 500 years ago) often built their farms on a residential hill or house terp. Typical of the medieval terpene are the series of residential mounds along peat rivers or newly constructed mining bags. The residential hills are often recognizable by a slight elevation in the landscape. Sometimes the elevation is excavated or collapsed and the residential hill is only recognizable by the plotting.
