Dataset description

This table contains figures on emissions of air pollutants calculated in accordance with the European NEC Directive (NEC=National Emission Ceilings). These are emissions to air from stationary and mobile sources in the Netherlands of ammonia (NH3), nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulphur dioxide (SO2), particulate matter (PM10; particles of a diameter of less than 10 μm), carbon monoxide (CO) and volatile organic compounds, excluding methane (NMVOC). In this table, emissions from the Tata Steel coking plant (Hoogovens) are included in the base metal industry (and therefore not in the energy sector) and emissions from road traffic and fisheries are based on the marketing of motor fuels. Data available from: 1990. Status of the figures: All figures up to reporting year 2019 are final. The 2020 figures are provisional. In order to achieve a consistent and consistent time series, the complete time series is (re)calculated each year, so that the latest insights, in particular with regard to the emission factors, can be taken into account in the calculations. Changes as of 5 October 2021: — Addition of provisional figures 2020. NOx and NMVOC emissions from soil management and agricultural soils are no longer counted according to the current NEC Directive and will now be omitted for all years. Changes as of 16 February 2021: —Replacement 2019 provisional figures with final figures. — Part of the emissions is calculated on the basis of data from the CBS energy balance. The 2018 and 2019 figures have been revised and the figures for 2015 to 2017 have been revised. As a result, emissions have changed. — Emissions of methane and particulate matter from households from ambient heating have changed for all years due to the application of new emission factors. — The emissions of N2O, NH3 and NMVOC from agriculture have changed due to a new data model, in which the allocation to manure over grassland and arable land has changed. The emission factors for ammonia from low-emission houses have also been adjusted. Emissions from the entire 1990-2019 series have been adjusted. When will there be new figures? Final 2020 figures will be published in March 2022.
