Dataset description

This table provides figures on total Dutch greenhouse gas emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrous oxide (N2O) and methane (CH4) from both stationary and mobile sources. It provides an insight into the Dutch greenhouse gas emissions reported by the United Nations and the European Union. This is done in the context of the reporting obligations of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the European Union’s Greenhouse Gas Surveillance Mechanism. The emissions have been calculated according to IPCC requirements. The IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) is a United Nations organisation that produces reports on the state of scientific knowledge on climate change and related issues. Fluorinated gases contributing to the greenhouse effect are not included. For this purpose, the Emission Registration can be consulted. The CO2 figures include emissions from the use of lubricants in mobile sources, which includes approximately 0.1 billion kg of CO2. The coking plant of Tata Steel (Hoogovens) is part of the energy sector according to the CBS Standard Business Classification (SBI). However, this table includes emissions from the base metal industry. Data available from: 1990. Status of the figures: All figures are final. In order to achieve a consistent and consistent time series, the complete time series is (re)calculated each year, so that the latest insights, in particular with regard to the emission factors, can be taken into account in the calculations. Changes as of 9 February 2022: Addition of final 2020 figures. When will there be new figures? Provisional figures for 2021 will be published in September 2022.
