Dataset description

This table contains quarterly and annual figures on labour participation in the Netherlands based on the definition of the labour force that was central to the CBS coverage until 2015. The population aged 15 to 65 (excluding the institutional population) is divided into the employed, unemployed and non-occupied populations. The different groups are further distinguished by gender and age. Data available from 003 to 2016. Status of the figures: The figures in this table are final. Changes as of 24 May 2017: None, this table has been discontinued. Changes as of 21 February 2017: Due to an error in the calculation, the 2016 annual figures in the previous version of this table were not correct. This error has now been corrected. Changes as of 17 May 2016: The quarterly figures for the first quarter of 2016 have been added. In addition, the figures on business sector for 2014 have been added. The figures on the number of employees with a permanent or flexible employment relationship have been revised. The revision is the result of a change for a specific group of workers with a flexible employment relationship, namely those with a temporary contract with a view to a permanent employment relationship. As a result of an improvement in the questionnaire, it is now known to what extent they switch to permanent or other temporary employment with the same employer during the investigation. This improvement now also makes it possible to compile figures on the flow of the total number of employees with a flexible employment relationship to a permanent employment relationship. The revision increases the total number of people with a permanent employment relationship, the total number with a flexible employment relationship decreases by the same number, and there is a shift in the number of temporary contracts with prospects of permanent employment to other flexible employment relationships. The figures have been revised from 2003 onwards so that a time series on fixed and flexible employment relationships remains available. When are new figures coming? This table has been discontinued. The update of 21 February 2017 was the last update of this table. Data on the labour force according to the 12-hour border definition is continued in a new table. For a link to this new table see paragraph 3.
