Dataset description

This table provides insight into the balance sheet data and profit and loss accounts of all incorporated companies (N.V., B.V., Coöp) from the non-financial sector in the Netherlands. The data shall be composed of two sources: — for large enterprises (with a balance sheet total greater or equal to EUR 40 million) direct surveys are carried out — for small enterprises (balance sheet total less than 40 million euro), the CBS uses corporate tax return data from the tax authorities. For convenience, the term ‘enterprise’ is used here; however, factually correct is ‘company group’ as defined by the CBS. The companies are grouped by economic activity according to the 2008 Standard Business Classification (SBI 2008), a hierarchical classification of economic activities used by the CBS from 2008 to classify business units according to their main activity. Data available from: 2011. Status of the figures: The figures until 2019 are final and the 2020 figures are further provisional. Changes as of 17 March 2022: The further provisional figures for 2020 have been added. As of statistical year 2020, SBI ‘L’ has been added to the SFO observation range. As a result, SBI ‘L’ has been added as a category to the variable ‘Business/Branches (SBI 2008)’, as well as the new aggregation ‘Total, excluding financial sector’. The old aggregation ‘Total, ex. financial sector, real estate’ will expire as of statistical year 2020. When will there be new figures? — Provisional figures are published in December (12 months after the reporting year); — In March (15 months after reporting year) updated figures shall be added; — In December (24 months after reporting year) additional information will be available to give the data a definitive status.
