Freight transport; modes of transport, transport flows to and from the Netherlands

This table contains figures on the cargo weight of domestic and cross-border freight transport (excluding transport via the Netherlands). The figures are available for all modes of transport (inland waterway, maritime, road, rail, aviation and pipeline). Data available from: 1998 Status of the figures: All figures up to 2012 are definitive with the exception of inland waterway transport for the years 2007-2009. The data for 2013 to 2020 are provisional in nature. Because the data are composed of different statistics, which may have been minor adjustments, the figures may show minor deviations from previously published results. The figures on road haulage by foreign vehicles in the Netherlands are based on Eurostat data. The figures for the 4th quarter 2020 of foreign road hauliers from the United Kingdom have been estimated on the basis of data from the first three quarters. The figures for maritime transport up to 2010 are based on the gross plus weight. From 2011 this is the gross weight, i.e. excluding the empty weight of the transport unit (e.g. container). Changes as of 23 December 2021 Data for statistical year 2020 have been added for all modalities. When are new figures coming? The new figures will be available in the 3 rd quarter following the end of the previous calendar year.
