Dataset description

This table provides data on the number of lorries and tractors for semi-trailers (freight vehicles) in use in the name of companies, traffic performance (driving kilometres) of these vehicles and average annual mileage. These figures are broken down by industry (SBI 2008), age, payload and environmental class of the vehicle and size of the company. The figures refer to goods vehicles with a valid Dutch registration number which were admitted to traffic on public roads during (part of) the reporting year, including: — goods vehicles belonging to the holding stock during (part of) the year. — heavy goods vehicles operating on the road network only for part of the year, such as new or imported vehicles and vehicles which have been demolished or exported during the year. The calculated numbers are higher than the number of registered (active) trucks and tractors for semi-trailers at reference date 1 January, as published in the tables on the motor vehicle fleet. Data available from: 2009 Status of the figures: The figures for 2018, 2019 and 2020 are provisional. The figures for previous years are definitive. This table uses multiple (external) source files. Changes in these stocks may allow (final) figures to be adjusted retroactively in this table. Changes as of 24 January 2022: The 2020 figures have been added. When will there be new figures? The new figures are expected 1st quarter 2023.
