Dataset description

This table provides data on expenditure on care at actual prices, presenting expenditure to groups of providers according to three approaches: Care expenditure in a broad sense, taking into account all activities in the field of care, including welfare and childcare, regardless of whether these activities take place as a main activity or as a secondary activity. 2 Health expenditure following the international definition of the System of Health Accounts. In doing so, all activities are divided into a part that is seen as health care, and a part that falls outside and includes, for example, social care. 3 Health care expenses paid out of compulsory insurance. This is the part of the healthcare expenses under 1) paid through the Health Insurance Act (until 2005 by the Health Insurance Fund), and long-term care insurance, the Long-term Care Act (Wlz) (until 2014 the General Act on Special Medical Expenses (AWBZ)). The obligation consists of compulsory participation. This approach shows how big the difference is with the healthcare expenditures that the Minister for Health, Welfare and Sport is responsible for, the Budgetary Framework for Care (BKZ). As of the 2019 budget, the term Budgetary Framework Care has been replaced by expenditure ceiling care (UPZ). Data available from: 1998 Status of the figures: The figures for 2021 are provisional; the figures for 2019 and 2020 are further provisional; the other figures are final. Changes as of 7 July 2022: The figures for 2021 have been added, the figures for 2018-2020 have been adjusted. When are new figures coming? Updated figures for 2019-2021 and preliminary figures for 2022 will be published in the second quarter of 2023.
