Dataset description

File with the historic drying houses. A drying plant is a polder that was created by the drainage of a lake formed by nature or by the eel or peat extraction. The most beautiful dryhouses are located south of Leeuwarden in the form of the Grutte Wergeaster Mar and the Hempensermeer. Most of the former lakes that are referred to as drying mills are dry due to improved grinding in the immediate vicinity or by tapping.
