Dataset description

This table contains figures on the number of hospitalisations, the number of persons with one or more hospitalisation(s), the number of nursing days and the average nursing duration of persons who were registered in the Basic Person Registration (BRP) at any time in the calendar year. The figures are broken down by gender, age, type of admission and diagnosis according to the main and subgroups of the diagnosis classification International Shortlist for Hospital Morbidity Tabulation (ISHMT). Data available from: 2013. Status of the figures: Figures for the last year are provisional, the other figures are final. Amendments as of 16 June 2022: The 2019 provisional figures have been finalised and provisional figures for 2020 have been added. A new main group for COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) and other emerging diseases has been added to the ISHMT classification as of reporting year 2020 (see paragraph 2). In reporting year 2020, there is a significant decrease in the total number of hospitalisations compared to 2019. This decrease is mainly caused by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on hospital care. In addition, as of 2020, only the recordings that comply with the registration rules of the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa) will be included in the figures. This results in a small trend break of approximately 0.7 % fewer clinical shots, approximately 1 % fewer daily shots and < 0.1 % fewer observations than previously included in the LBZ StatLine statistics. When are new figures coming? Preliminary figures for 2021 are expected to be added in early 2023.
