Dataset description

This table contains figures on the turnover and volume development of the hospitality industry. The figures can be broken down by industry according to the CBS Standard Business Classification (SBI 2008). The evolution is represented as a percentage change from a previous period and by means of indices with the base year 2015. Sales and volume developments are published in two forms. First, as year-on-year developments where growth is central to the same period in the previous year. These figures are presented uncorrected. The second form concerns period-on-period developments, e.g. quarter-on-quarter developments. Period-on-period developments are possible by applying seasonal adjustment. Data available from: 1st quarter of 2005. Status of the figures: The figures for 2022 are provisional. The figures for a calendar year shall become final no later than five months after the end of that calendar year. Due to the response, the figures can change until then and the status of ‘provisional’ is maintained. Amendments as of 31 May 2022: The figures for the 1st quarter 2022 have been added. The 2021 figures have become final. Changes as of 2 June 2022: Due to a change in model settings, the seasonally adjusted figures for the fourth quarter of 2021 and of the first quarter of 2022 have been adjusted. Due to the government measures related to the coronavirus, some services were not available or limited in the second and fourth quarters of 2020 and in the first quarter of 2021. As a result, for some of these services there were no transactions whose prices could be measured. The lack of sufficient transactions is the reason why volume figures are not given for some industries. When are new figures coming? For quarterly statistics, CBS publishes on the last working day of the second month after the quarter. After publication of the final results, CBS will only adjust the results if major adjustments and/or corrections are necessary.
