Dataset description

This table contains figures on immigrants who have come to the Netherlands since 1999. The data are broken down by gender, age group, migration reason, origin, socio-economic category and duration of stay. Because the immigration figures shown here are calculated on the basis of data from another source (Stelection of Social Statistical Files), they deviate from comparable figures in other StatLine tables. For more information on the source see paragraph 4. For all immigrants up to ten years after their entry into the Netherlands, this table examines whether they still live in the Netherlands and what kind of socio-economic category they belong to. This always happens on the same date. So for someone who came to live in the Netherlands on 12 February 1999, on 12 February 2000 it will be checked whether this person is still there. If so, he/she will count towards the length of stay of one year and provide information on his/her socio-economic category. The selection Duration of stay shows for all years the original number of immigrants who came to the Netherlands in the year of immigration. Through the selection Socio-economic category you can see if someone is still present and what he/she is doing. Data available from 1999 to 2015. Status of the figures: The figures in this table are final. Changes as of 16 July 2018: None, this table has been discontinued. When are new figures coming? No longer applicable. This table is followed by immigrants; migratory reasons, socio-economic category. See paragraph 3.
