Immigration and emigration; age (31 Dec.), marital status, country of birth

This table contains figures on the establishment of persons from abroad (immigration) in the Netherlands and departure of persons from the Netherlands to abroad (emigration) including the balance of administrative corrections. Figures on emigration including the balance of administrative corrections give a better picture of the actual emigration than figures on emigration excluding those corrections. The data can be broken down by gender, age (at 31 December), marital status and country of birth. Data available from: 1995 Status of the figures: All figures in the table are final. Changes as of 8 July 2022: Figures for 2021 have been added. CBS is moving towards a new classification of the population by origin. From now on, more decisive is where a person was born, and less determining where one’s parents were born. The word migration background is no longer used. The main classification of Western/Non-Westerns is replaced by a classification based on continents and common immigration countries. This classification is gradually introduced in tables and publications with population by origin. It can be decided that the origin classification will expire for a StatLine table. The new classification may also affect tables with characteristics such as country of birth, nationality and country of destination. To connect to this new layout, this table removes all subjects on immi and emigration to country of birth that refer to the groups “Western” and “non-Western” from the table. The deleted information is permanently available in table 'Immi and emigration; age (31 Dec.), burg state, country of birth;1995-2020' (see link under 3. LINKS TO RELEVANT TABLES AND ARTICLES). When are new figures coming? In the second quarter of 2023, the final figures for 2022 are included in this table.
