Dataset description

This table contains figures on industrial production and turnover developments. The figures can be broken down by industry according to the CBS Standard Business Classification (SBI 2008). The evolution is represented as a percentage change from a previous period and by means of indices with the base year 2015. Production and sales developments are published in two forms. First, as year-on-year developments where growth is central to the same period in the previous year. These figures are presented uncorrected and adjusted working days. The second form concerns period-on-period developments, e.g. monthly-on-month developments. Period-on-period developments are possible by applying seasonal adjustment. Data available from: January 2005 Status of the figures: The figures for a calendar year shall become final no later than five months after the end of that calendar year. Due to the response, the figures can change until then and the status of ‘provisional’ is maintained. Currently, the turnover and production figures for the year 2020 are final. After publication of the final results, CBS will only adjust the results if major adjustments and/or corrections are necessary. Changes as of 10 August 2022: Industrial figures for the month of June 2022 have been added and the figures have been adjusted from March to May 2022. Amendments as of 10 June 2022: Industrial figures for the month of April 2022 have been added and the figures from January 21 to March 2022 have been updated. The annual seasonal adjustment model update also took place this month. All 2021 figures have been updated for the last time and set to ‘definitive’ status. Changes as of 10 June 2021: Industrial figures for the month of April 2021 have been added and the figures from January 2020 to March 2021 have been adjusted. The annual seasonal adjustment model update also took place this month. Due to the additional adjustments made due to the coronavirus, the adjustments are slightly larger than other years. All 2020 figures have been updated for the last time and set to “definitive” status. Changes as of 9 April 2019: Industrial figures for the month of February 2019 have been added and the figures for 2018 and January 2019 have been adjusted. The domestic and foreign turnover figures for the mining of 2017 have also been adjusted. These were still on the previous delivery. The underlying encodings of the classifications used in this table have been adjusted: — E.g. unsustainable consumer articles — E.g. of sustainable consumer goods — Manufacture of consumer goods — Manufacture of intermediate goods — Manufacture of capital goods These are now in line with the standard coding established by CBS. The structure and data of the table have not been modified. When are new figures coming? For monthly statistics, as a rule, CBS publishes six to eight weeks after the end of the quarter. For quarterly statistics, CBS publishes on the last working day of the second month after the quarter.
