Dataset description

In this table you will find a historical series of annual figures from 1981 on the composition of the Dutch labour force aged 15 to 65 by gender and province. The ranges by province are available from 1981, because, during the period before, no proper corrections are possible for the differences in the definition of the labour force. The subdivision by provinces is based on the residential province. In order to create a consistent time series, the division by provinces was laid back from 1987 to 1981. From 1988 onwards, the province in force was used for that year. As a result, there may be differences between the figures by province in this table and other tables with provincial data based on the EBB because those tables use the most recent province layout for all years. Data available from 1981-2013. Status of the figures: New revised tables on the labour force were published on 26 February 2015. This revision of the statistics of the labour force has two parts. The definitions have been adapted to the internationally agreed definitions and data collection has been improved by being the first statistical office in Europe to survey via the Internet. The figures in this table have not yet been revised and therefore deviate from other data on the labour force on StatLine. For more information on the revision, see the link to the press release in paragraph 3. Changes as of 4 April 2014: The figures for 2013 have been added to this table. When are new figures coming? This table is no longer updated. A new historical set of annual figures on the labour force has been compiled on the basis of the international definition. See paragraph 3.
