Dataset description

This table shows the number of patients within an institution residing in the Netherlands who received the types of medical specialist somatic care described in the basic health insurance package. The table is based on the Institutions Registered Diagnosis Treatment Combinations (DBCs) of the initial and follow-up treatment pathways performed. The care takes place in hospitals, independent treatment centres (ZBCs) or any other (category) institution and is carried out by or under the supervision of a medical specialist working within one of the twenty-six specialisms that register DBCs and is the main practitioner for the DBC concerned. The table shows both the number of patients within institutions with one or more closed DBCs in the reporting year and the number of patients with one or more ongoing DBCs (closed and/or opened in the reporting year). The figures are broken down by diagnosis, age, gender and region. Three regional breakdowns are included in this table: by country, province and GGD region in which the patient resides. The classification in GGD regions is based on the classification as of 01-01-2013. Data available from 2008 to 2011 Status of the figures: The data is final. Changes as of 10 November 2017: None, this table has been discontinued. When are new figures coming? This table has been discontinued and will be followed up in 2018 by a new table at person level.
