Dataset description

Since 2013, the Dutch migration chain has a chain-wide data dictionary, the Migration Chain Data Dictionary (GMK). The migration chain consists of the following organisations: — Central body for reception of asylum seekers — Department of Judicial Establishments, Ministry of Justice and Security — Return and Departure Service, Ministry of Justice and Security — Directorate-General Migration, Ministry of Justice and Security — Immigration and Naturalisation Service, Ministry of Justice and Security — International Organisation for Migration — Royal Marechaussee — Ministry of Foreign Affairs — National Police — Council of State — Council for the Judiciary — Flight work in the Netherlands — Seaport police. One of the starting points in the basic start architecture of the migration chain is that there is no difference in understanding of the meaning of the information that can be extracted from an integral customer image. A uniform conceptual framework goes beyond a glossary of the most important concepts: any shared data can be related to a concept in the concept framework; in the description of the concepts, the relationships are named one another. Chain parties have aligned their own conceptual frameworks with the uniform concept framework in the migration chain. The CSF is an overview of the common terminology used within the migration chain. This promotes a correct interpretation of the information exchanged within or reported on the processes of the migration chain. Correct interpretation of information prevents miscommunication, mistakes and errors. For users in the migration chain, the GMK is available on the non-public Rijksweb (gmk.vk.rijksweb.nl). In the context of openness and transparency, it has been decided to open up the description of concepts and management information from the GMK as open data. This means that the data via Data.overheid.nl is available and reusable for everyone. By making the data available, the Ministry also hopes that publications from and about work in the migration chain, for example the [State of Migration] (https://www.rijksoverheid.nl/documenten/rapporten/2021/07/07/staat-van-migratie-2021 “State of Migration”), can be better explained and can be provided with context.
