Dataset description

This table provides data on the number of road vehicles at the position on 1 January, broken down by — vehicle type (passenger cars, commercial vehicles, motorcycles and mopeds) and by — regional breakdowns (postal code, municipality and province). In addition, additional location characteristics are included with information to be able to relate the individual postal codes to other regional classifications (such as municipalities, province and part of the country). For the years 2019 and 2020, we refer to the table Areas in the Netherlands 2019 and 2020 for the additional municipal characteristics ‘municipal size class’ and ‘urbanity of the municipalities’. The municipalities (and associated postal codes) are classified on the basis of the current state of the municipal classification, in this case as from 1 January 2022. Please note: due to municipal reclassifications, comparisons with previous years may show deviations because postal codes and municipalities are classified differently than in 2022. Data available from: 2000 to 2022 The total number of road vehicles from 2004 is not quite comparable to previous years in connection with the addition of registration of trailers and semi-trailers. From 2007 onwards, the total number of road vehicles is not entirely comparable to previous years due to the addition of registration of vehicles with a moped license plate. Status of the figures: The figures in this table are final. Amendments as of 14 October 2022: None, this table has been discontinued. This table is followed by ‘Motor vehicles active; vehicle type, postal code and regions, 1 January”. See paragraph 3. When are new figures coming? Not applicable.
