Dataset description

The statistics Museums provides information about companies and institutions in The Netherlands showing the material testimonies of man and his environment acquire and present. It is not just companies and institutions whose operating a museum is the main activity, but also museums that ancillary activity forming a business or institution, (e.g. part of a municipality, a university or a hospital). This table gives figures about — the number of museums; — the percentage distribution of museums by visitor size class; — the total number of visits broken down by paying and free visits; — the average number of visits per museum and the number of visits foreigners; — staff (measured both in number of persons and in working years) in employed (remunerated staff), other paid staff (other paid) and Volunteers. The above data is further detailed by country and province. Data available from 1995 to 2009. Status of the figures: The figures are final. Changes as of 14-03-2014: None, this table has been discontinued. When are new figures coming? No longer applicable. Region — Northern Netherlands: Groningen, Friesland, Drenthe; — East of the Netherlands: Overijssel and Flevoland, Gelderland; — West Netherlands: Utrecht, Noord Holland, Zuid Holland, Zeeland; — South of the Netherlands: North Brabant, Limburg.
