Dataset description

The historical series 'New Build Houses; Output price index construction costs 2000=100, from 1914' indicates the evolution of the construction costs of dwellings and was created by the linking of old series calculated independently of each other. From 1914 to the 4th quarter of 1991, the indices are based on data on housing in the social rental sector analysed by the Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment. Thereafter until 1994 on data from the building permits granted for housing in the social rental sector. Since 1995, they are based on the building permits granted for all dwellings. Data available from: Data including VAT are available from 1914 and excluding VAT from 1969. In the historical series, only annual figures are available for the years 1914 to 1949. From 1950 onwards, in addition to the annual figures, quarterly figures are available. Status of the figures: The historical series was calculated for the first time on the basis of 2000 = 100 in January 2010. Since it is obtained by linking successive series independent of each other, it has the character of an estimate. Price differences resulting from changes in implementation and quality have been eliminated as far as possible within the original series. The figures remain for 4 quarters for the time being. Changes as of 30 March 2022: The figures for Q4 2020 and the year 2020 have been definitively established. Provisional figures for Q4 2021 and 2021 have also been added. Provisional figures may have changed. When will there be new figures? The provisional figures for Q1 2022 will be published in June 2022.
