Dataset description

The table provides insight into the number of new benefits (inflows) and the number of discontinued benefits (outflows) under a number of laws on the consequences of disability. It’s about the law on the Incapacity for Work Insurance (WAO), the Incapacity for Work Act— provision for young people with disabilities (Wajong) and the Incapacity for Work Act— self-employed (WAZ) insurance. The number of benefits in the context of the WIA has not yet been included in the tables. It is expected that this is the case at the end of 2009. From 1 January 2004, workers who fall ill on or after that date may, no longer claiming a WAO benefit. These workers can, after the employer has paid the salary for two years, as of 1 January 2006 apply for a benefit under the Work and Income Act to working capacity (WIA). For those who already have a benefit, Doesn't change anything. The number of benefits under the WIA is not yet included in the tables. It is expected that by the end of 2009 it’s the case. From 1 August 2004, self-employed persons who are ill on or after that date no longer claim a benefit under the WAZ. For those who already have a WAZ benefit, nothing changes. The number of benefits is splintered according to a number of characteristics of the recipient of the benefit and the benefit: — gender; — age; — degree of incapacity for work; — category of origin; — reason for termination. Data available from: January 1998. Status of the figures: the figures are final. Changes compared to the previous version: 14 February 2012. The figures for November, December and the annual total of 2009 has become final. When are new figures coming? The table has been discontinued. Information on new and terminated employment incapacity benefits from 2010 onwards are listed in another table.
