Dataset description

The table provides insight into the number of benefits under a number of laws on disability. This concerns the Incapacity Insurance Act (WAO), the Employment Arrangement Provision Act for Young Disabled Persons (Wajong) and the Self-employed Incapacity Insurance Act (WAZ). The numbers of benefits under the WIA have not yet been included in the tables. This is expected to be the case by the end of 2009. As from 1 January 2004, workers who become ill on or after that date will no longer be entitled to a WAO benefit. After the employer has paid the salary for two years, these employees can apply for a benefit under the Work and Income by Work Capability Act (WIA) on 1 January 2006. For those who already have a WAO benefit, nothing changes. From 1 August 2004, self-employed persons who become ill on or after that date will no longer be entitled to a benefit under the WAZ. For those who already have a WAZ benefit, nothing changes. The number of benefits is determined according to a number of characteristics of the benefit recipient and the benefit: — gender; — age; — degree of incapacity for work; — diagnosis of disability; — duration of the benefit. For attention: It has been found that, from January 2006 onwards, the reason for disapproval (diagnosis code) was not correctly encoded in the reporting files underlying the figures on disability benefits. The breakdown by diagnostic code has therefore been removed from the tables from 2006 onwards and will not be published again until the corrected files have been received from the sender. Data available from 1 998 to 2009. Status of the figures The figures are final. Changes as of 22 October 2013 — the preliminary figures for 2009 have become final; — the table has been discontinued. The table is followed by the incapacity benefit table per law; characteristics of benefit recipients. When are new figures coming? No longer applicable
