Dataset description

This table shows the total amount of personal budget (pgb) allocated per year by health care offices to individuals, which is available to individuals for self-purchase or hiring of long-term care dependent on the General Act on Special Disease Costs (AWBZ, until 2015) and the Long-term Care Act (Wlz, from 2015). In addition, the table shows the total amount actually spent by budget holders (from their granted pgb) on AWBZ/Wlz care in one year, including settlements for old years. The part of the pgb that the budget holder has not spent on care must be paid back to the healthcare office. As of 2015, long-term care will be financed through several laws: the Long-term Care Act (Wlz), the Social Support Act (WMO) 2015, the Healthcare Insurance Act (Zvw) and the Youth Act. From 2015 onwards, this table follows only the number of persons granted a PGI as dependants of the Wlz. The PGI is a subsidy scheme, the ceiling of which is set annually by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Data available from: 2009 This table follows the AWBZ-funded pgb until 2015 and from 2015 onwards only the Wlz-funded pgb. PGB funded from the Wmo 2015, Zvw and Youth Act will not be included as of 2015. Status of the figures: The figures for the last year are provisional, the remaining figures are final. Changes as of 19 January 2022: The figure on the personal budget for 2020 has been added. When will there be new figures? The figure on the allocated personal budget 2021 will be published in Q1 2022.
