Dataset description

This table provides insight into the number of persons with a benefit under the Algemene Ouderdomswet (AOW). The data are broken down by the following personal characteristics: — gender; — age; — migration background. The figures refer to the last day of the reporting month. Data available from: January 2013. Status of the figures: The figures from January 2013 are further provisional with the exception of the figures for the last three months, which are provisional. The preliminary figures for the last three months for the categories of the personal characteristics other than ‘Unknown’ are based on estimates. However, this method of estimation is not sufficient to determine the values of the personal characteristics for the categories ‘Unknown’. That’s why the figures for ‘sex: unknown’, ‘Age: unknown’ and ‘Migration background: unknown’ for the last 3 months are on dots. The compilation of data for StatLine tables containing breakdowns by personal characteristics is always done on the basis of the most recent data from the Basic Person Registration (BRP). Because different StatLine tables are updated at different times, it may happen that for one table a different version of the BRP has been used than for another table. As a result, there may be limited differences between figures in this table compared to other tables with the same population. In that case, the latest published figures are the most accurate. As of January 2018, the method of determining the number of persons with AOW with a migration background and subcategories has improved significantly. It is not possible to determine the figures for the period 2013-2017 in a qualitatively comparable way. This is why these figures for this period are shown in the table. For the reporting periods from January 2021, the distraction of the country of birth has been modified to obtain information on the migration background from the BRP. Due to various developments, land borders have changed over time, such as the disintegration of the former Eastern bloc countries and those born in the Gaza Strip. As a result, the number of unknowns for migration background has fallen sharply compared to the previous month. Amendments as of 31 October 2022: — the June 2022 figures have become more provisional. — the provisional figures of September 2022 are added. When are new figures coming? New figures will be released in November 2022.
