Dataset description

What’s there to see? The map shows the harvestable amount of biomass outside forest in the form of logs (tonnes of dry matter per year) for all Dutch municipalities. The harvest is based on a level that can be maintained over a longer period of time, which overall means that no more is harvested than grows annually. What’s the value? The map provides insight into the geographical distribution of logs in the Netherlands. Producers and wood processing companies can use this information for their business operations and strategic planning. Who is this important to? Biomass as logs can be used for sawwood, paper, pulp. The information is important for owners, producers and users of non-wood logs such as municipalities, water boards managing organisations and for the wood processing industry, and the energy sector.
