Provinces; motor vehicle tax rates

This table sets out the rates of the opcents of motor vehicle tax levied by the provinces. Owners of passenger cars and motorcycles pay an amount of provincial opcents in addition to the motor vehicle tax. The opcents on the motor vehicle tax are collected by the Tax Authority, in the same way as the motor vehicle tax, and then transferred to the province. The data in the table are taken from the budgets adopted by the provinces prior to the reporting year. Data available from: 2000 Status of the figures: The figures in this table are provisional at first and second publication. If changes occur, this is due to the availability of new or updated data. The figures become final when publishing the next period. Changes as of 19 January 2022: Provisional figures for the year 2022 have been added. The figures for the year 2021 are now final. When will there be new figures? The new provisional figures shall be published in the financial year by January at the latest, and further provisional figures shall be entered in February of the financial year. The figures may be adjusted on the basis of the availability of new or updated source material. In general, the adjustments are small. The adjustments will be made when a new year is added to the series.
