Provincial Archaeological Attention Areas

The responsibility for much of the archaeological heritage lies with the municipalities. The Province limits its involvement to archaeological values considered to be of provincial importance. To this end, a number of archaeological focus areas are designated, representative and relatively gifted parts of the various Limburg cultural landscapes with a great potential of archaeological values. The Province is committed to researching and preserving the archaeological values in these areas of interest. This is done by ensuring that the focus areas are safeguarded in spatial developments, in municipal zoning plans.
