Dataset description

This table contains figures on average travel distances for residents of the Netherlands from their home address to the nearest facilities (e.g. school, general practitioner or library) for 2019. The table also shows figures on the number of facilities located within a certain distance from the home address. This data has been calculated as an average for all persons in the area. The data is available per municipality at district and neighbourhood level, as of 1 January. Data available for 2019 Changes as of January 2021 In the current version of this table, the figures for train stations and switching stations have been revised as a result of a cleanup and correction of the source files. The CBS has recently acquired ProRail’s spatial files, allowing the location of stations to be determined more accurately than before. As a result, the results for reporting year 2019 are no longer comparable to those of previous years. At national level, the average distance to train stations has not changed compared to the previous version. The distance to transfer stations has increased by an average of 3 kilometres. At a lower regional level, the differences may be greater. Figures for the reporting year 2019 have been added on the following topics: — Museums — Performing arts — Pop venues Status of the figures: The figures in this table are final. When are new figures coming? No new figures are expected for this table.
