Dataset description

This table provides figures on average travel distances for residents of the Netherlands from their home address to the nearest facilities (e.g. school, general practitioner or library) for 2020. The table also contains figures on the number of facilities located within a certain distance from the residence address. This data has been calculated as an average for all persons in the area. The data are available per municipality at district and neighbourhood level, as of 1 January. Data available for 2020 Changes as of October 2021 As of the reporting year 2020, the CBS is provided with the population of general medical practice in a different form than before: the secondary addresses of general medical practice are no longer part of the population. As a result of this change in the source files, the results from reporting year 2020 are no longer comparable to those of previous years. An analysis for reporting year 2019 on the effect of omission of the secondary addresses shows that the distance to the nearest GP practice at national level increases by 0.1 km. At local level, the distance can be extended to 7 km in certain regions. Figures for the reporting year 2020 have been added on the following topics: Health and well-being — Pharmacies — General practitioners’ posts — General practitioners’ practices — Hospitals (including outpatient clinics) — Hospitals (excluding outpatient clinics) Retail trade — Department stores Hotels and restaurants — Cafes and the like — Hotels and the like — Restaurants Education — Primary education — Secondary education * Total * VMBO * HAVO/vwo Traffic and transport — Train stations — Switching stations Leisure and culture — Attractions — Museums — Performing arts — Poppodia — Saunas — Sunbeds — Swimming pools Other — Fire stations Changes as of February 2021 Figures for the reporting year 2020 have been added on the following themes and topics: Retail trade — Large supermarkets — Other daily food products Hotels and restaurants — Cafeterias Childcare — Out-of-school care — Day nurseries Traffic and transport — Driveways Leisure and culture — Libraries — Cinemas — Artificial ice rinks Status of the figures: The figures in this table are definitive. When will there be new figures? For the time being, no new figures are expected for this table.
