Dataset description

As from 1999 the question has been amended in such a way that comparison with later years is not possible, this table is per February 2004 was discontinued. The new series can be found in the table <a href="https://statline.cbs.nl/statweb/selection/applet/selectpage.asp?dm=SL N L &amp; theme=3690 &amp; PA=70763ned"> “Public libraries”. The aim is to collect numerical data from all Dutch public libraries (for all and accessible libraries which, in accordance with the Law on Welfare, are to a large extent (more than 50 %) by the government, a province or a municipality to be paid or maintained) in order to give an insight into the library system. Personnel data are provided per province and data relating to the collection, loans, users, number of institutions and lending points. Data available: 1995. Frequency: discontinued
