Dataset description

The rail traffic sound map is a map of the Netherlands in which the colour around main railways shows how much railway noise around the city is heard. In 2007 a sound card was established for the first time. On 29 June 2012, the State Secretary for Infrastructure and the Environment adopted the second noise map for main railways. This sound card shows how much noise in 2011 came from main railways where more than 30,000 trains were running. This card is reviewed every five years.
